Pitch your startup at the DW Global Media Forum in 2023, which is open to all startups worldwide

DEADLINE: on April 17, 2023

The Start-up Contest at the DW Global Media Forum 2023 is officially accepting applications. Startup media companies are wanted by the Global Media Forum. Send in your application to compete against creative businesspeople from across the world, make new friends, learn new skills, and uncover novel ideas.

An intriguing format that is a part of the yearly DW Global Media Forum is the start-up contest@GMF. (GMF). International media start-ups are invited to participate in an incubation session over several days leading up to the event, pitch their concepts and business models to a worldwide audience, and compete for first place.

The 16th DW Global Media Forum, which will take place both on-site at the Bonn World Conference Center and online, will feature the last event on June 19 and 20, 2023.

Benefits
As part of the award, the winners will take advantage of DW media's worldwide media coverage.
The Deutsche Welle Akademie will also provide the winners with professional media training.

The DW Global Media Forum itself, where some of the most significant topics in news and media today are being discussed in an interdisciplinary approach, will be open to all the selected start-ups' participation digitally as delegates.

Eligibility
Open to international media start-ups to present their ideas and business plans to a worldwide audience.
You must be interested in, or ideally already be working on, innovations and trends in one of the following areas to participate:

How can smart tools support the job done in the newsroom?

How can we create new tools to improve media literacy and limit the dissemination of false information?

How might cutting-edge technological ideas be used to strengthen civic societies?

How do we detect online censorship and shutdowns while improving the systems and safeguards in place to protect free speech on the internet?

How can new production technologies in the media industry guarantee the resiliency of free media in crisis and disaster situations?

How can we empower and assist regional independent media? Local means relevant.
